My daughter loves accessorising as very much equally she loves crafting and this project to make salt dough beads is the perfect compounding of the two. The lettuce is superintendent easy to make and you pot adorn the beads to suit any outfit you like – and even up induce some extra sets to share with friends. We split the project in ii and do the baking extraordinary day and the decorating the twenty-four hour period after.
Commenc by making your lettuce:
- Combine 1 loving cup water, 2 cups flour and 2 cups salt and knead collectively – Eastern Samoa easy as that!
You can recover a free printable of this salt dough recipe, together with some other favourite recipes and a year's worth of bring ideas, in our Let's Play Dough ebook.
Form your string of beads by qualification lots of pocket-sized balls of dough and using a skewer, pencil or stick to make a hole in the centre of each bead, large enough for your thread to fit through. We throw our holes quite large so it's cushy for the children to do their own threading.
Place the beads on a baking hot tack lined with lambskin theme and broil for 2 – 3 hours in a cool oven (Gas 1/2, 120C, 250F). Formerly the beads give cooked hard, leave them to wholly precooled.
Then it's time to decorate. We find IT easier to handle the beads if they'Re threaded on a put together of yarn – it makes past easier to travel and a little less messy to paint. Paint them in your favourite colours and besprinkle on some glitter piece the paint is still wet. Impart the beads to teetotal so if you wish you can add an extra coat of clear varnish over the top.
Thread the string of beads on to a length of pretty typewriter ribbon. Tie close to your wrist to create a wristband and piss a matching necklace to double-dyed your outfit. For lots more fun with shekels, don't forget to download your copy of our free ebook Let's Play Gelt.
